Where to Buy Succulents | Donde Comprar Suculentas

Muchas personas me preguntan Dónde compro mis suculentas? y aquí les haré una lista de los sitios, tanto en persona como online, que he comprado y algunas sugerencias. Vivo a las afueras de Houston Texas, en una población llamada Richmond y cuento, para mi felicidad, con un vivero espectacular  muy cerca de mi casa, donde semanalmente traen nuevas suculentas… es un punto a mi favor, si verdad?… pero no se desanimen que las suculentas se encuentran en todas partes, quizá ante tus ojos pero no lo habías notado, hasta ahora.

1. Viveros: Busca los viveros cercanos a tu casa y pregunta, sin miedo, si poseen suculentas. Muchas veces no están fáciles de ver, algunas veces las tienen en sus depósitos (me paso una vez buscando una en especial, pregunte y me la trajeron de otro lugar) o esto los ayude a ellos a traerlas en un futuro para la venta. 2. Home Depot | Lowes : en estas tiendas especializadas en artículos de construcción, muchos de ellos, en las afueras tienen una selección grande de plantas y sobre todo cuando llega la primavera, se abarrotan de suculentas. Encontré muchas especies preciosas de suculentas, sin embargo debes observar muy bien su estado, preferiblemente comprarlas cuando están llegando a la venta y puedes notar que la tierra esta un poco seca y la planta bien cuidada, he notado que con el paso de los días,  y sobre todo si hay mucha lluvia, tienden a saturarse de agua y por ende, es muy posible que mueran al pasar los días.  Se cuidadoso al escogerlas.

3. Supermercados (en mi caso: Kroger, HEB, Sprouts, WholeFoods, Walmart): igual a Home Depot y Lowes, debes observar con cuidado su estado, he tenido dos experiencias: una positiva y otra negativa.. Por ejemplo en walmart he conseguido suculentas muy bonitas y al mejor precio, pero un caso fue que escogí una muy linda que estaba a la intemperie, cuando llegue a casa y replante note que la tierra estaba sobresaturada de agua, al pasar los días mi suculenta murió de un momento a otro. Un ejemplo positivo fue en Kroger donde encontré a un precio de remate mis “String of Banana” ($5.99 desde $12.99) estaba abandonada y super seca la tierra, la traje a casa y he cuidado, re-hidratando y ahora luce sana y preciosa.

4. Online: hasta ahora he comprado en una sola tienda online y ha sido una experiencia maravillosa. Lo positivo de comprar online es que puedes conseguir especies muy especiales y raras de suculentas, y en mi caso, llegaron en muy buen estado, con sus hojas perfectas, una cantidad de tierra aceptable para su replantación y hasta ahora todas estas suculentas que compre en California, están en muy buen estado y luciendo todo su esplendor en mi jardín. El lugar que use y recomiendo es:

Many people ask me where I buy my succulents? and here I provide a list of sites, in person and online, where I bought it and some suggestions. I live just outside of Houston Texas, in a little town called Richmond and I have, to my happiness, with a spectacular nursery near to my house, where every week brings new succulents… it is a point in my favor, if it ?… but not discouraged because the succulents are everywhere, perhaps before your eyes but you have not noticed until now.

1. Nurseries: Search the nearby nursery to your home and asks, without fear, if they have succulents. They are often not easy to see, sometimes have in their backside or deposit (once I spend looking for one in particular, ask and I brought from somewhere else) and this will help them to bring them on a future sale. The nursery frequently visited for me at Richmond Texas is called:

2. Home Depot | Lowes: In these store for constructional goods, many of them, just outside have a large selection of plants and especially when spring comes, are crammed with succulents. I found many precious species of succulents, however you must observe well their condition, preferably buy them when they are coming up for sale and you can notice that the soil is a little dry and well maintained plant, I have noticed that with the passage of time, and especially if there is heavy rain, they tend to become overwatered and therefore is likely to die as the days. Be careful to choose them.

3. Supermarkets (in my case: Kroger, HEB, Sprouts, WholeFoods, Walmart): same as Home Depot and Lowes, you must carefully observe their condition, I have had two experiences: one positive and one negative .. For example in walmart I have found very nice succulents and at the best price (as usual in walmart), but one time I chose one that was outside (we had bad weather those days), when I get home and replant it noted that the soil was oversaturated with water, after few days my succulent died. A positive example was at Kroger where I found an on sale price of my “String of Banana” ($ 5.99 from $12.99) was abandoned and super dry soil, I brought it home and carefully re-hydrate it and now looks healthy and beautiful (see the picture).

4. Online: so far I’ve bought in one online business and has been a wonderful experience. The positive thing about shopping online is that you can get very special and rare species of succulents, and in my case, arrived in very good condition, with its perfect leaves, an acceptable amount of land for replanting and so far all these succulent that I bought in California, are in very good condition and looks beautiful  in my garden.
